Contemporary Transportâ„¢

Contemporary Transport was established in 2008 by Dr Colin Black, a recognised expert in the UK and increasingly across the world in the transport planning industry. The business was created in response to an increasing demand for specialist consultancy that focuses on the transport strategy of visionary clients. Our clients include: European and national governments; Local authorities; Transport providers; Policy think-tanks; Healthcare and education sectors; Architects; Planners and developers.

Contemporary Transport prides itself in its ability to combine a number of discipline areas to provide a unique approach to our work. It is a tough call to define the wide range of influences which are drawn from our practical experience, policy studies and academic work, but they include:

  • Behavioural Studies and Socio-Psychology;

  • Transport Planning and Urban Design

  • Organisational Theory and Business Studies;

  • Sustainable Development;

  • Travel Planning, Transport Demand Management, Mobility Management;

  • Geography and Economics.

This approach provides an intriguing insight which understands the true ramifications of applying transport sustainability; the paradoxical impact of key policy decisions; the opportunities afforded by understanding the motivations of a segmented market; and the socio-psychological aspects of mode-transfer.

Our background in behavioural research and in depth understanding of the concept of sustainability, places Contemporary Transport in an ideal position as the international policy agenda shifts its emphasis.
